ISLAMABAD - During national elections, on May 11, the coastal city of Karachi (Sindh province) was hit by a brutal terrorist attack in the Quaidabad's district. Pakistani sources report that a large quantity of explosive has been placed on an auto-rickshaw thus causing the powerful explosion that caused 10 deaths and more than 30 injured. Target of the attack was the offices of the Awami National Party (ANP) and the party's candidate Amanullah Mehsud, but he remained unharmed.

On April 14, the spokesman of MEND (Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta) Jomo Gbomo issued the threat that starting from May 31 the Nigerian group will launch a series of attacks against mosques, Islamic institutions and Muslim religious leaders who spread the doctrine of hate, in the course of what has been called "Operation Barbarossa" in defense of Christianity in Nigeria. MEND has been engaged for years, mainly in operations against oil and gas infrastructure and are possible more small-scale attacks in the short term.

On April 19 in Baga (Borno State) has been reported heavy fighting between Islamist militants Boko Haram and Nigerian security forces causing 185 casualties and destroying about 2,000 houses. There is a great number of deaths among the civilian population, probably used as a shield by Islamists, who would find themselves surrounded by security forces. 

SOMALIA, ESPONENTI DELL'INTELLIGENCE SOTTO ATTACCO

Mogadiscio teatro di un nuovo attacco terroristico contro le autorità governative, l'ultimo attacco nel settembre 2012 aveva causato la morte di 18 persone.

SomaliaNel giorno 18/03 un'autobomba è esplosa nella capitale somala Mogadiscio, uccidendo almeno 8 persone. L'attacco è avvenuto nei pressi del palazzo presidenziale, l'obiettivo sarebbe un bus che trasportava membri del governo tra cui il capo dell'intelligence del distretto di Mogadiscio.

Per ora nessun gruppo ha ufficialmente rivendicato la responsabilità per l'attentato, ma la dinamica dell'accaduto lascia pensare che si tratti di un'azione compiuta dal gruppo terroristico di matrice islamica al-Shabaab, che hanno da poco ripreso possesso della città meridionale di Hudur, capitale della regione di Bakool.
