Elections in Mali scheduled for July 7 have been postponed to July 28 for several organizational reasons, due to the difficult internal situation. There are reports about the destruction of election materials, including electoral rolls, by Islamist groups in the north of the country.The MNLA (Movement for the Liberation of Azawad) still has control of the city of Kidal in the north, and is willing to prevent the regular voting process through operations boycott of the infrastructure charge and also through an intense propaganda work among the population. Malian forces is preparing for a possible assault on Kidal, seeking to wrest control of the militants MNLA and to take the town by force, the troops have already arrived in the city of Anefis, 55 miles south-west from Kidal.
