POLITICAL OUTLOOK The National Salvation Front, a Tunisian coalition of opposition, announced a national mobilization for October 23, to support the appointment of a new government. The date is the second anniversary of the birth of the coalition, which in the meantime has failed to draw up a new constitution, difficulties due to conflicts between the ruling party and the opposition. 

Therefore it is feared clashes in the economically most disadvantaged provinces such as El Kef, Kasserine and Sidi Bouzid. In the next few weeks could get up the level of confrontation with opposition groups intentioned to demand the resignation of Ennahdha. In addition to political opposition groups, also the UGTT union will line up against the government, although he has mediated in the course of political tensions.

SECURITY OUTLOOK On October 17 an unknown number of militants attacked a police checkpoint near the town of Goubellat, in the north-east, killing two officers. The previous day, gunmen had already attacked a police station in Ghar Dimaou, but there were no casualties. According to official sources in Tunisia, the perpetrators of the attacks, identified as Islamic militants, fled through the region of Mont Chambi at the end of operations. The security forces continue to be the preferred target by militants terrorists. The group Ansar al-Sharia Tunisia is one of the most active terrorist groups in North Africa, the Tunisian authorities also claimed to have discovered cells presumably linked to AQIM.
