Finally, the European Union has decided, governments and security forces will have to work more closely in order to control the threats and violence of terrorism such as those that took place in Paris last week.

Like France has deployed its troops in the streets, the Hungarian prime minister formally asked Europe to close the doors to immigration, and many EU countries are considering to change the rules of travel "without a passport".

Latvia, which now holds the rotating presidency of the EU has suggested an urgent meeting of the Ministers of Interior and Justice of the member countries to focus on the preparation of emergency measures applicable in Europe.

Junker also believes there is a need for closer cooperation between national authorities that control internal security.

Regarding the immediate measures, the Commission and some national governments are urging the European Parliament to put aside privacy concerns about the exchange of passenger data in the EU air.

Years of debate on Passenger Name Record (PNR) highlight the internal tensions and mutual suspicions between the EU Member States regarding the sharing of intelligence data, suspicions which must be overcome to allow tighter controls on those suspected of planning violence in Europe and no.

A number of European interior ministers, Commission officials and representatives of the US and Canada, Turkey and neighboring countries, have agreed a series of measures in Paris last Sunday, including the issue of foreign fighters and arms trafficking.

It ''s time that European nations begin to work actively at every level simply to defend against people who have visions of life quite contrary to our values.
